Our Story
The story behind the blend
Some businesses start with a business plan. Blendit started with an avocado problem.
It began with Catherine
Catherine had been making her own smoothies for years - prepping ingredients the night before, freezing what she could, blending in the morning. It worked. She felt better, her mornings were easier, and she couldn't understand why nobody had made it simpler for everyone else to do the same.
When the avocados she relied on went out of season, she went looking for a solution. That search took her north, introduced her to growers she didn't know existed, and accidentally turned a personal habit into a business.
A trip that changed everything
On a sourcing trip to Northland, Catherine spotted a sign for berries, followed an open gate behind a delivery truck, and ended up standing in a field meeting the people who'd help shape the whole direction of Blendit.
That trip introduced her to Karen and Ross, who grow lady finger bananas in Northland, and a handful of other growers who've been part of the business ever since. It stopped being just about avocados pretty quickly.
New Zealand grows world class produce. Catherine already knew that. She just wanted to combine them easily for other people to recognise it.
Made in Stanmore Bay
Every Blendit pack is made by hand in Stanmore Bay, Whangaparoa. We source locally wherever we can - from Northland avocados and bananas to Nelson berries from Sujon, almond and peanut butter from 40 Thieves in Auckland, and coconut yoghurt from Raglan. When organic is available, that's what we choose.
And when we're done, we pay City to Farm to take our food scraps and turn them back into soil. Because good food should give back to the land it came from.
Almonds don't grow well in New Zealand so ours come from Australia. Spinach at scale is still a challenge we're working on. Everything else? Proudly grown right here.
What we believe
We're putting simple truths out into the world. The best ingredients make the best smoothies. And the best you.
